This Privacy Policy should be read in conjunction with the Terms and conditions of use
1. Introduction
UIQ Technology AB (with main office address at Soft Center VIII, 372 25 Ronneby, Sweden) or its branch offices world-wide, (together "UIQ Technology", “we” or “our”), are committed to protecting the privacy of visitors to the UIQ web sites (including the web sites at the following uniform resource locaters: http://books.uiq.com, http://www.uiq.com/ and http://developer.uiq.com/ together with all related discussion forums, directories and databases) (the "Web Sites").
UIQ Technology has put in place policies and procedures to protect personal information we collect about you in order to comply with applicable legislation. This privacy policy explains how we collect and use the information we collect about you. If you do not agree with this privacy policy, please do not use the Web Sites. By accessing and using the Web Sites, you agree to the terms of this privacy policy. Moreover, we reserve the right to change or modify the privacy policy at any time as posted, following for example changes in applicable legislation.
2. Services
UIQ Technology provides details on the Web Sites about its business practices including details of its partners and licensees, professional services providers, third party software developers, and independent software vendors (together the "UIQ Community"). The Web Sites also includes details about the UIQ User Interface, and the UIQ Developer Program and include authorized access to interactive discussion forums, directories and/or databases, together with details of related products and/or services available to you (together the "Services").
3. Personal information
To provide you with the Services, we collect certain personal information about you when you subscribe and register with us for membership of the UIQ Developer Program, or in any other circumstances on any of the Web Sites. When you register with us, a unique username and password may be provided to you to enable you to access the web sites. The information we collect may include, but is not limited to, your name, address, bank account details, credit card details, telephone number, email address and work details.
We do not collect any sensitive personal information such as information on your racial or ethnic origins, political opinions, religious beliefs, trade union affiliations, sexual life, health or criminal history.
4. Collection of personal information
We may collect personal information about you from the following sources: (i) Personal details registered by yourself in relation to the UIQ Developer Program; (ii) personal details registered by yourself in relation to any marketing program; (iii) personal details registered by yourself in other ways e.g. to receive email or SMS message updates or information; (iv) information about your visits to the Web Sites; and (v) analysis of visitor traffic using cookies and standard web logs.
When you view the Web Sites by hypertext link from another web site or when you hypertext link to another web sites from the Web Sites, we may store the names of such web sites for our own internal administration.
5. Use and disclosure
The personal information provided to UIQ Technology on the Web Sites will be handled in appropriate and considerate manners. Without limiting the foregoing we will use and disclose personal information for the purpose of the Services, or for a purpose specifically stated on the relevant area of the Web Sites. UIQ Technology always reserves the right to use and disclose personal information for the purpose of conducting direct marketing. Furthermore, UIQ Technology may combine the personal information you provide on the Web Sites with other information we may collect from you or from third parties in order to more effectively tailor the Web Sites, Services, functions, activities, products, and offerings to you.
6. Removal of personal information
Should the personal information held by us no longer be required by us for any of the purposes set out in the section "Use and disclosure" above, we undertake to take reasonable steps to remove or de-identify the personal information after a reasonable period of time has elapsed.
If at any time you wish any personal information to removed from our database, please send an email to info@uiq.com and we will promptly cancel your records (subject to any legal requirements to retain such information).
7. Use of cookies
We will only use cookies to view information on your computer that was put there by a cookie from the Web Sites. The help menu on the menu bar of most browsers will tell you how to prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, how to have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie and how to disable cookies altogether. Sensitive information, such as telephone numbers, passwords, and credit card numbers are never stored in cookies.
8. Accessing and amending personal information
You may request a copy of all your personal information held by us by sending your request by email to info@uiq.com. We will charge a € 20 (Euro) administration fee for providing the copies.
We will amend any incorrect personal information held by us. If at any time you wish any personal information to be amended, please send an email to info@uiq.com and we will promptly amend your records.
9. Consent
Our site provides users the opportunity to opt-out of receiving communications from us and from our partners at the point where we request personal information about the user by (i) sending an email to info@uiq.com stating your request or, (ii) reply to any unwanted communications that you receive, stating your request.
10. Transfer of personal information
We will not transfer your personal information outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”) with the exception of transfer of information to UIQ Technology offices outside the EEA, and/or (where you have given us your consent to do so) selected third parties, in relation to the provision of the Services.
11. Security
While we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access will never occur, please be assured that we takes great care in maintaining the security of your personal information and in preventing unauthorized access to it through the use of appropriate technology and internal procedures.
12. Children
We do not specifically collect personal information about children and request that children obtain their parents' consent before providing personal information. We recommend that parents actively monitor their children's use of the Web Sites.
13. External web sites
This privacy policy only applies to the Web Sites. The Web Sites may contain links to external web sites. Please note that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of other web sites.
